A Hot New Bombshell Enters The “Influencer Epidemic”: Love Island Contestants Are Just Fame Hungry

I may watch Love Island every year, and I may follow every single cast member on Instagram, but I’m not naïve enough to believe that the “twelve sexy singles” entering the villa are there to find a potential soulmate. Let’s face it, Love Island is practically an Influencer crash course. We’ve seen some of the world’s most successful content creators come out of the reality TV show, and it has been evident that some of these stars have had a strategic game plan prior to entering the Villa.

Molly-Mae Hague might have found her fiancé and the father of her children on Love Island, but for her, that was simply a coincidence. She, herself has admitted that her appearance on the show was a strategic business stunt, and we can’t argue with her, it worked… and it worked well.

We’ve seen many cast members following in Molly-Mae’s footsteps, with Shakira Kahn openly admitting that she knew how to tactically market herself on the show for guaranteed success. Being one of the most in-demand cast members to come out of the show, Shakira’s marketing background seriously came in clutch. Kahn is now a full-time television personality and content creator, working alongside iTV’s Love Island in their after-show podcast, The Debrief. It really is giving “I peaked on Love Island”.

The public have a major influence on Love Island’s plot, with the opportunity to vote not only for their favourite couples, but also the individual Islander who they love seeing on their screens. This emphasises how it truly is every man (or woman) for themselves and whether you’re putting all of your eggs in one basket, or getting up to funny business in Casa Amor, the only thing that matters is how you’re seen by the public.

Take a look at our recent winners. Out of all the finalists, Lorenzo and Julia were the slowest burners yet still managed to bring home the big £50k. Since coming out of the Villa, the pair have barely been spotted together but have both been more than happy to work individually with various dominant agencies in the social media industry, one being British Vogue.

With Islanders appearing on podcasts, in brand deals and collaborating with current icons, it is clear that Love Island is purely adding to the “Influencer Epidemic”, providing fame hungry singles with a platform and disguising this amongst dramatized romance.
