DEADLINE – BLACKPINK’s Third World Tour causes sensation among K-pop fans

Since YG Entertainment official account posted poster and announced that BLACKPINK would set their Third World Tour from July, the entire K-pop fan base was in a state of excitement. Because after the expiration of their 2023 contract, BLACKPINK began their solo careers. After a gap of two years and eight months, they reunited as a complete group and announcing their return. This was not only a huge surprise for the fans, but also caused a huge stir in the global music industry.

DEADLINE is full of strength. It can either signify the end of something or be regarded as a brand new beginning. Maybe it is the temporary cessation of the solo careers of the four people, or it can be a brand new concept of the four people coming together again. DEADLINE feels like a total reset that has new visuals, new energy, new attitude. No matter which one it is, it represents BLACKPINK new appearance in the public eye once again.

Over the years, BLACKPINK has been a representative figure in the process of globalizing Korean pop music. Many of their songs have achieved astonishing success in the history of K-pop music and no one has been able to surpass this to this day. In July this year, they released the song “Jump“. The song surpassed 300 million Spotify streams in just 80 days, making it the quickest track by a K-pop girl group to reach that milestone. “Jump” also entered the Billboard Global 200 at number one, earning 123 million streams and selling 14,000 copies worldwide during the week ending July 17. It also shows that BLACKPINK is not yet done with global dominance and they’re rewriting the rules of what K-pop means on the world stage.

Although the strength of BLACKPINK’s each member is not to be underestimated, this new chapter seems to place more emphasis on showcasing its own unique features rather than merely proving its strength. For example, ROSÉ & Bruno Mars “APT” and Jennie’s Like JENNIE, their music’s audience base has expanded beyond the K-pop music industry. It clearly reminds us that no other combination can achieve such a perfect fusion of Korean artistic style, Western influence, and the superstar appeal of the digital age as they do.

Whatever “DEADLINE” means, the one only thing that definitely is BLACKPINK isn’t fading. They’re rewriting K-pop history and one final encore at a time.
