To be honest, I’m tired of listening Silence Wang reduced to a “sweet love song” singer. Even during the “The Singer”, there were still people seizing on a few clips to criticize him for “singing poorly”. This stereotype is simply a misunderstanding of the most clear-headed creators in the Chinese music scene in 2026.
I have been a fan of Silence Wang for many years, watching him evolve from “A Little Sweet”. If your ears are still stuck in those pink bubbles, then this title track “Ask You a Profound Question That Humans Dream of” will shatter your perception.
Look at the “weird” aesthetic presented by this song! The cold and harsh synthesizer sound and the grand narrative arrangement – which part of it resembles a cheap pop song? While the public was still expecting him to create those captivating OSTs, he directly pulled us into the abyss of the electronic apocalypse, delving into the ultimate meaning of human existence.
But more to the point, this romanticism does not simply conclude with the works. He re-composes the old songs at each concert and continuously changes the stage design and visual articulation, all to create the full living world of a Romantic City in the audience. Music to him is not a commodity that can be easily copied and pasted, but an experience that should be repeatedly perfected and re-told. This is why I call him a romantic lunatic.

Silence Wang does not need to stay in his comfort zone. The sci-fi universe he constructed in “AGE OF ROMANCE” is an ultimate gift for those who truly love thinking.
