According to MacRumors, Apple will announce the new iPhone this September as part of an annual convention. But let’s be honest, the excitement is gone. The rumoured iPhone 17 lineup feels more like a reshuffling of trendy features gone boring. Meanwhile, Samsung has innovated with devices like the Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7, which have improved from its seven predecessors. Here are three hot takes on why it might be time to ditch Apple and switch.
Innovation? More like an Iteration
The iPhone 17 will reportedly feature a thinner “Air” model, a camera layout tweak, and a 120hz screen branded as ProMotion. That’s it. Apple keeps leaning on recycled ideas: thinner phones, camera bumps, and higher price tags. In contrast, Samsung’s foldables are exactly apple iPhones with expanded features. A phone that transforms into a mini-tablet or flips into pocket-sized convenience. Innovation should mean more than moving the camera lens and calling it a ‘camera bar’. Besides, it’s like Apple has suddenly hired a Google Pixel Designer and is calling that the innovation.

Specs That Speak for Themselves
Apple touts its 48-megapixel camera as a big leap for its pro models, but Samsung’s Z Flip and Z Fold offer 50MP shooters since 2022 yet more storage and RAM. Better yet, powerful cameras for all its models. Apple still starts with a paltry 128GB, while Samsung delivers 512GB at the same price. Even the marketing feels tired: “MagSafe compatibility” and “USB-C” as selling points in 2025? That’s just a lame catch-up. Sounds more like selling their accessories as the ‘iPhone’ feature. iPhone 17 will surely not be in the ‘Porsche engineers’ trend.
User experience & Company integrity
Samsung has been perfecting its foldable hinge for years, balancing durability with sleek design. A phone once deemed impossible to design, the Z Flip folds down to a nostalgic 4.1-inch screen, similar to the first-ever iPhone, but this time, it’s purposeful, offering true portability with a choice to flip up to a bigger phone dimension. Apple, meanwhile, seems obsessed with making things thinner for no real reason. Who asked for a wafer-thin phone if the screen dimension outweighs the portable design?
On the other hand, Samsung delivers devices that meet consumer needs: bigger screens when you want them, smaller phones when you don’t—the best of both worlds with specs that justify the price. If innovation matters, the choice in 2025 is clear.
