Hello and Welcome to NETS2001 Writing on the Web Unit

Curtin campus in Malaysia.

Dear students,

I’m really glad you’ve chosen to take NETS2001: Writing on the Web, and I’d like to warmly welcome you to the class!
In this unit, we’ll focus on crafting content specifically for online platforms. As Media and Communications graduates, many of you may find yourselves in roles that require writing for the web—whether it’s updating a brand’s website, contributing to online journalism, or producing content tailored for digital audiences.

This unit is also relevant, if you wish to become content creator, as this unit provides knowledge on creating content that is valuable, appropriate and that works well for online spaces. We’ll also touch on some practical skills—like the basics of HTML and how websites work, promoting your online article, building credibility as a content writer, about editorials and business of online journalism and about Gen AI, which is certainly a hot and important topic to learn as we transition into AI world.

I really hope you enjoy the unit and find it useful for your future career. Looking forward to a great semester together!

Best wishes,

Dhanashree Giri Amatya
