Ruben Amorim’s Manchester united tenure might have only just begun and there’s been blood in the water for some time. A question many are asking is how can a manager that oversees a side turn the tides?  When they seem to be chum for the sharks with a dismal start to the season.

Has Amorim already expired his grace period, five games into the season? The list of coaches that were at the helm in recent years looks like a role call of sorts. Ten Hag, Solskaer, Van Gaal, who were all in better standing than Amorim at this point while in charge. All sacked! Then anyone can also argue that the team has been in shambles, it’s their lack of form for some, as Roy Keane says to football 365 – “The team is weak and soft”. They’re all Primadonna’s it seems. Yet the wage bill at United is higher than imaginable. This is where lies a debate, should he go, or stay?

Looking back at the career of one of the undeniable greats, Sir Alex Ferguson also had a slow start to his tenure, arguably worse. Maybe, his plan needs to play out as Ferguson’s did. The answer can’t lie in an interchange of coaches greater than the team sheet on a Saturday. Surely the same old story of managers being sacked is getting old and time will show there’s method in Amorim’s madness.

Amorim has a vision and a stringent footballing philosophy, the team he has inherited weren’t valid in his plans. Amorim started with some bold moves, axing half the squad and spending big on the transfer market. It seems like Deja vu, but were these moves right? time will tell, if the new manager is given enough time for his plans to play out.

Coming to Manchester Amorim left behind an impressive feat, Sporting Lisbon his previous employer hadn’t won a title in 19 years. So, his mettle has been established under the European spotlight. Amorim is standing firm with his footballing philosophy, running his football team with a 3-4-3. Is it his fault the tactic hasn’t worked? Afterall, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Getting rid of him this early in his term seems like a possibility from match results and the plethora of managers that fell before him.

This weekend showed this supporter some hope with a wet 2-1 win against Chelsea. This hope for the club to turn things around will only remain if Amorin is given his chance. He has stayed firm, he is tested, can he escape the plank?
