miHoYo’s Greed Is Killing Genshin Impact

Since the release of the Sumeru update, Genshin Impact has shifted from a relaxing casual game to a demanding and exhausting experience. Many players now describe it as feeling like a second job rather than entertainment.

The problem then is obvious – The Sumeru version makes everything harder without giving the player any benefit.

In the early days of Mondstdt and Liyue, the exploration was easy and fun. Players are free to climb, glide, and run to open new maps.

Mondstadt and Liyue were some of the best times I spent on this game and inazuma’s archon was the cultural peak of genshin.

At the same time, the Sumeru map is directly doubled in difficulty to explore. Most of the rainforests and deserts are locked down with long, boring plot quests. Without reading external guides, progression becomes nearly impossible. If the player hasn’t done the pre-quests, they can’t even access the area without watching hours of character talk to unlock it.It’s a joke to say that this is “open world, free to play”, as the Sumeru version limits the player’s freedom every step of the way, making the whole experience boring as hell.

So much stuff is locked behind the Aranara questline which is very tedious to complete at times. Also, the region mechanics require you to change characters often (dendro/electro) to activate the tri-lakshana creatures and break the dendro stones.

If players want to explore the map more easily, they must use the characters that came out in the new version, but almost all of these characters are limited to five stars. The quests are so long and tiring, they should have given more primogems to make it easier for players to get their favorite characters. It resulted in absolutely nothing, and the rewards barely added up.

The terrible pity system has always been one of the players’ most hated problems. But instead of change, miHoYo made it even harder to get the characters players like in the Sumeru update.

Meanwhile, the plot and characterization, which had been regarded as “masterpieces” before, were also a huge failure in the Sumeru version.

A YouTube critique of the Sumeru storyline highlights how the plot and character development, once praised as masterpieces, have declined. Many blame miHoYo’s increasing focus on monetization, which seems to have replaced the original passion that made Genshin special.
