On June 13, 2025, Riot Games unveiled the second inductee into its Hall of Legends: Uzi, the iconic Chinese AD Carry (ADC) player from League of Legends, a globally popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game. At the same time, Riot Games has introduced a grand in-game event, a Level 3 Battle Pass, and a Premium Skin Pack priced at a whopping $452.

Almost immediately, however, the player community split; Uzi, for all his fame and skill, had never won a League of Legends Global Finals title. So why would he be remembered like Faker? The first inductee into the League of Legends Hall of Fame was Faker, a five-time World Champion with an unquestioned place in League of Legends. In contrast, Uzi, despite his immense popularity and skill, has never won a world championship, not once.
Riot Games defended their decision, emphasizing that the Hall of Legends is about more than just titles, but also the player’s influence, legacy, and cultural impact. In the official 25.12 patch notes, they describe Uzi as a “living legend” and have launched a full event pass developed with him to celebrate his career. The campaign includes exclusive looks, emotes, and glory skins for Kasha – all included in the new Tier 3 Profit System.

According to Jarvis the NPC’s article tell people are upset about the price of this UZI Hall of Fame skin. It’s not just the addition of Uzi that’s most offensive, it’s also its price tag: a whopping $400 to unlock all the premium content. Many players felt that the celebration was more about profiting off of nostalgia than honoring a legend.Riot Games claims that the skin was made with Uzi’s input, but I think that only adds fuel to the fire – as it implies that he was not just a token choice, but an active participant in the marketing.
Remina’s opinion on this skin
Remina’s video argues that spending close to $500 on a skin is pretty crazy. While UZI’s Hall of Fame skin gift will cost you about $245 to unlock the second form of the skin, and a whopping $452 if you want the autographed version. In terms of gameplay and content, however, it doesn’t bring more mode switching, storyline expansion or interaction mechanics, but more additional loading borders, icons and exclusive animations.
Faker is the undisputed king of five World Championship trophies in League of Legends history. Pricing Uzi’s Hall of Fame Pass skin pack the same as Faker’s is not only bold, but out of line. For many players, this is more like profiting off of nostalgia than honoring a hero’s career, and Riot Games’ intentions are clear: Prestige is for sale, and the price is up to the fans, even if the player doesn’t win the title. The only question remaining is – how long will players pay for this behavior?
A great hot takes, it really catch my attention
