The Summer Conrad’s Episode Turned Disappointing

Now, I know both the brothers only have one episode each showing their point of view, but surely that could not have been it for Conrad! Right?

To some, The Summer I Turned Pretty may seem like a typical teenage romance series, but fans have been seriously dedicated to the drama and characters. The Prime Video Original series, based on the trilogy by author Jenny Han, has the world split into two, Team Conrad and Team Jeremiah. With Conrad’s growing maturity, love for his family, dedication to his future and willingness to do whatever is best for Belly, proves to viewers that he and Belly are endgame. Not! I repeat! Not Jeremiah!

Season 3 of the Prime Video Original did not fail to keep fans hooked. These episodes were full of heartbreak, betrayal, yearning, and extreme frustration. The one thing we needed after all the drama was to know what Conrad was thinking!

In recent episodes, Belly accepts Jeremiah’s marriage proposal despite his beyond poor actions of cheating, lying, and his lack of maturity.

During the first two seasons, we mainly hear from Belly’s point of view and some episodes with Jeremiah’s point of view. Fans have been dying to get an episode narrated by Conrad, knowing exactly what is going through his mind after the first four episodes of the new Season 3.

Wednesday, August 6 came around with the release of what was meant to be the most valuable episode of the entire series: “Last Dance”, narrated by the one and only Conrad Beck Fisher!

But was it just me, or was Conrad’s episode just another ‘filler episode’?

Now don’t get me wrong, there were some very memorable scenes that I am very certain made all our jaws fully drop to the floor, ahem the ‘peach scene’ and the ‘flashback scene’. But that was pretty much all we got from Conrad’s point of view that added to the whole plot.

Yes, I know Jenny Han did tell us that there are no filler episodes in this season. But compared to the last two, Season 3 does seem to have a lot of these said ‘filler episodes’. Sadly, I must say, that does include Conrad’s episode!

“One thing I’ll say about Season 3 of TSITP… there are no filler episodes.”

Hear me out, the end of the previous episode left fans with extremely high expectations after hearing Conrad’s narration for the first time.

So, where was Conrad’s yearning for Belly? We have seen a lot of it before, why not so much now? Where was Conrad’s love confession? Where was the beginning Jeremiah’s downfall? We just needed something more. More emotion. More passion. Even just more development in the plot.

Jenny Han obviously had other plans!

Soon as though this was the longest episode in the series so far, they had the perfect opportunity to create so much more from Conrad’s perspective than just using a couple of lines from the original book.
