Sul, Sul!
Who doesn’t know The Sims 4? It has been around for a decade. The Sims was a staple childhood game growing up, most ‘Simmers’ (that’s how we called Sim players) were expecting The Sims 4 to be an extraordinary experience compared to the previous Sims. When The Sims 4 was launched for the first time in 2014, the base game was incomplete compared to The Sims 3, whose base game was more ‘alive’ rather than robotic. The Sims 3 have more playable things, and the best part was that we didn’t need to keep purchasing another expansion, game packs, or a knick-knack kit that is non-interactive. Not to mention that Sims 3 doesn’t have the monetisation, but even without buying them, the Sims 3 game is still very engaging.
I personally love The Sims 4 and own some of its expansions. My initial intention was trying to make the game feel more ‘entertaining’, and sadly, the overall experience was very mediocre compared to the price I paid, as this should be included in the base game itself instead of being monetised. Like, why do I have to pay $49.95 for… as simple as weather?

Lately, The Sims 4 has launched a couple of expansion packs, one of which caught my eye was the Enchanted by Nature, as it looks dreamy, fairy, and cutesy. Well, I wasn’t born yesterday, so I know that this will be… another sort of fail by EA? And guess what? I was right. The expansion was a hot topic amongst the Simmer/gamer/YouTuber, you name it, it was reviewed and announced to us how this pack is ‘broken’ just like any other pack. Referring to SatchOnSims, he mentioned that “Nature feels like a collection of features rather than a fun gameplay”, which most of us agreed with. The fact that The Sims 4 is opening doors to more destruction, well… disappointed but not surprised.

Let’s be honest, playing The Sims 4 is like being addicted to a sweet treat; you know it’s bad for your health, but you can’t get over it! Brain wants more, but wallet wants to retire. Whether Sims 4 is bad for your finances, yet still gazillion people stick around, including me. Like, are we happy spending fortunes because we love EA so much that we want to donate to their dysfunctional game packs? Nobody really knows!
Dear EA, my support has a limit, and so does my credit card. *cry*
I am such a big Sims 4 enjoyer, but also such an EA hater!!! I really have fallen victim to EA’s paid content specifically with Enchanted by Nature. I was so excited to play with fairies but I found that after a while I was tired of my sims fairy form and fairy dust everywhere.
It really just feels like something is missing, something that was present in the prior versions of the Sims.
I use to love the sims but having to purchase new packs every few months really threw me off! Hated waiting for a big sale so I could get 3 packs at once instead of just 1.
Bring back games that have enough content in the base game!
As a Sims 4 player and fan, I agree. EA monetised a lot of features, turning them into expansion packs, when they should part of the base game.
I love the Sims 4 and have played over 1000 hours on it but I hate how expensive the packs are! Especially since you could pay $50 for an expansion pack and then end up not using it! EA creates these packs for exploitative prices and then wonder why people are pirating the packs for free…
I completely agree with you! I have always wanted to try out their expansion packs; however, none of them have ever been worth the money… They were either too buggy or had too little content to even be called an “expansion”. I hope one day EA can buck up their game and finally create something worth our money!
